"Man Standing," (1929) etching, editioned 1981, 5 7/8" x 4" in an edition of only 25, signed in pencil and number 25/25. Framed in a satin black finish with a raised lip highlighted with subtle gold and black texturing. Outer mat is a cream flaxen linen matte on Rives BFK paper while the inner mat is a warm black rag (ArtCare). Exterior frame dimensions are 15 5/8" x 18" with UV glass (Teller 9).
Bishop was a prominent representative of the artist's group known as the Fourteenth Street School working out of her studio near Union Square in New York City for nearly 60 years. This Isabel Bishop etching exhibits characteristics often evident in her prints; a light filled scene seemingly without background concentrating on a single figure.
